Seeking Restaurant Host/Hostess

Summary:

We are seeking a friendly and organized Restaurant Host/Hostess to join our team and be the first point of contact for our guests. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a warm demeanor, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. As a Restaurant Host/Hostess, you will greet guests, manage reservations, seat guests, and assist in ensuring a smooth flow of service in the restaurant.

Responsibilities:

Greet Guests: Warmly welcome guests as they enter the restaurant, provide menus, and direct them to their seats.

Manage Reservations: Answer phone calls, take reservations, and manage the reservation book to ensure efficient seating arrangements.

Seating Guests: Maintain an organized seating chart, allocate appropriate tables for guests based on party size and server availability, and manage the waitlist during peak hours.

Communicate with Servers: Coordinate with servers to ensure they are aware of their assigned tables and any special requests or accommodations for guests.

Maintain Cleanliness: Monitor the cleanliness of the host/hostess stand and lobby area, ensuring it is tidy and welcoming for guests.

Handle Guest Inquiries: Address guest inquiries, provide information about the restaurant, menu items, and specials, and assist with any special requests or accommodations.

Assist with Takeout Orders: Coordinate takeout orders, package them efficiently, and ensure they are ready for pickup by guests.

Handle Payments: Process payments for takeout orders and assist with cash handling when necessary.

Assist with Special Events: Collaborate with the management team to assist with special events or private parties, including coordinating seating arrangements and ensuring guest satisfaction.

Upsell and Promote: Recommend menu items, specials, and promotions to guests to enhance their dining experience and increase sales.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Professional appearance and demeanor.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Knowledge of basic restaurant operations and terminology.

Familiarity with reservation management systems (e.g., OpenTable) is a plus.

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.

High school diploma or equivalent.
