Superior Blue Strategies, a progressive mail and digital voter contact firm based in Washington, DC and Duluth, MN is seeking FREELANCE PROOFREADERS to join our team of professionals who provide direct mail, collateral, targeting and digital services for a diverse slate of progressive clients across the country.
Our Proofreaders are a critical and essential position at Superior Blue, by helping ensure that our deliverables aren’t just creative and correct, but also free of typos and grammar errors that can distract readers and muddle our message.
You’ll work closely with senior staff, partners, and the Production Team to help create and deliver timely, accurate, and creative mail programs for our clients with a comprehensive review of every piece that goes out the door to voters for fact checking, spelling, grammar, sentence structure and punctuation.
The ideal candidate for this position will be strongly self-motivated, highly organized, have terrific attention to detail, excellent grasp of AP Rules of Style, a spelling bee champion who is ready to be part of the progressive movement this summer and fall in a fast-paced, occasionally chaotic team environment. A bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or humanities preferred (or equivalent experience in an editorial capacity).
Requirements
· Outstanding grammar skills and knowledge of AP style
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including responsiveness
· Excellent spelling skills
· Very high attention to detail
· Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Gmail
· An appreciation for graphic design and visual communication

We are looking to hire this position Spring 2024 and seeking freelance candidates to work remotely with us on a project basis through the end of October 2024 (and potentially beyond). Depending on the workload of the team, the Proofreader may have the opportunity to work more than 40 hours in a week (busier times are usually seen August thru October).
The position also requires a positive attitude, a flexible schedule to accommodate the vagaries of political campaigns. That said - we work with YOUR availability, and only schedule you if/when you're available.
