The Department of Writing Studies at the University of Miami is accepting applications for full-time lecturer positions with an expected start date of August 15, 2024. The normal teaching assignment is four courses each semester (courses are capped at 19 students). Lecturers may also choose to substitute one course per semester for consulting 10 hours per week in the University’s Writing Center. Initial appointment(s) are for one year and may be renewable depending on enrollments and the university budget. We encourage applications from candidates with an interest in professional writing, data visualization, and/or community engagement.In addition to housing a vibrant and richly diverse first-year writing program, the Department regularly offers courses in professional writing, leadership and innovation, science writing, and civic and community engagement. As well, the department recently launched a Minor in Professional Writing.Application materials should include: a cover letter describing your background and experience; a curriculum vitae; and a list of 3 professional references. A PhD (or equivalent terminal degree) in Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, English, Professional and/or Technical Communication or a closely related field is required by the start date of the appointment.
