COOK:

POSITION MISSION: Provide a safe and healthy atmosphere for the entire camp community by working collaboratively with the food services team to prepare fresh, nutritious food on time for each meal.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

Prepare and cook food for three meals per day as the menu indicates, utilizing safe food handling techniques.

Set up food, supplies, and utensils for family-style dining.

Ensure storage of food and leftovers at proper temperature.

Partner with the Food Service Manager to maintain correct documentation of Summer Food Service Program compliance.

Maintain an awareness of food service inventory, and submit order requests to the Food Service Manager as needed.

Clean and maintain all food-preparation and storage areas.

Communicate schedule and job tasks effectively with all other food service staff.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is compensated at a rate of $730 per week, pre-tax.

Our summer seasonal staff are paid on a bi-weekly basis and are classified as exempt, seasonal employees.

All meals are provided during camp sessions, and on-site, shared housing will be provided for staff who live outside the local Boscobel area.

REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS

Availability: assigned shifts of 10-12 hours per day on a typical day, and additional hours when necessary.

The camp kitchen season runs from late May to August 14th, 2022, with possibility of working retreat weekends in the spring and fall of 2022.

If living on site, must be able to live in shared staff housing.

Must be at least 18 and/or have a high school diploma or GED to apply.

Current age-appropriate CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification (PEAK will provide during staff training if needed).

A valid and up-to-date ServSafe Food Handler certification (PEAK can support in attaining).

At least 6 months of experience in a commercial kitchen.

REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS

You will report to the Food Service Manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds (with or without assistance).

Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 12 hours).

The camp environment is often hot and humid. You must be able to work in a commercial kitchen setting for sustained periods of time without air conditioning.

Position requires working weekends and evenings, with time off in between camp sessions.

OFFICE COORDINATOR:

POSITION MISSION: Ensure that all aspects of administration and programming function at a high level by serving as a liaison between Lake Valley Camp and the PEAK Program Center in Milwaukee.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

Serve as a communication liaison for the resident camp by answering incoming calls, taking messages, responding to and distributing emails, and ensuring ongoing communication between PEAK and Lake Valley Camp.

Support camp scheduling, camper registration, and family outreach.

Monitor documentation of the Summer Food Service Program.

Assist with running errands on behalf of camp: post office, grocery runs, medical needs, staff transportation, etc.

Maintain inventory of office supplies and place orders as needed, adhering to the summer operations budget.

Manage distribution of camp resources including: petty cash, technology, and vehicle keys.

Manage incoming and outgoing mail.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is compensated at a rate of $15 per hour, pre-tax.

Our summer seasonal staff are paid on a bi-weekly basis.

All meals are provided during camp sessions while the employee is on site.

REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS

Availability: late May to mid August. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30.

A valid driver’s license and clear driving record.

Must be at least 18 and/or have a high school diploma or GED to apply.

Current age-appropriate CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification (PEAK will provide during staff training if needed).

REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS

You will report to the Assistant Director of Camp Operations, with additional guidance from the Camp Director and Assistant Director of Camp Programs.

You will work closely with the PEAK Operations team in Milwaukee.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

The camp environment is often hot and rainy. You must be able to work indoors and outdoors for sustained periods of time without air conditioning.

Position requires standing, stooping, sitting, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds with or without assistance.

Position requires working some weekends, with time off between camp sessions.

EQUESTRIAN CONSULTANT:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Equestrian Consultant does not need to live on site, but will be on site a minimum of two days a week to help care for the horses and provide guidance to instructors on programming. The Consultant will also be on call to address urgent and emergency situations with the horses as needed.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

Ensure Equestrian Instructors have the skills and training necessary to keep participants, employees, and horses safe and healthy while participating in equestrian programming.

Oversee instructors as they maintain a herd of 6-8 horses, including maintaining feed, water, grain, supplements, wound care, and knowledge of turnout etc.

Recognize and report to the Assistant Director of Programs and Facility Manager any program hazards and ensure those hazards are addressed before the program continues.

Coordinate any necessary outside appointments for horse care, including scheduling vet visits and purchasing necessary products needed for horse care or equestrian programming.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is compensated at a rate of $20 per hour, pre-tax, with a time commitment of 16 hours per week.

Our summer seasonal staff are paid on a bi-weekly basis and are classified as exempt, seasonal employees.

Hands-on experience handling horses with a good understanding of their nature and the ability to foresee dangerous situations.

Knowledgeable and comfortable while riding both in the arena and on trail.

REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS

Barn or ranch management and herd health experience.

Must be able to commute to the LVC resident camp property in Boscobel, WI at least 2 days a week, starting with arrival of horses in June and ending after horses leave in mid-August.

Must be at least 18 to apply.

The Equestrian Consultant advises the Equestrian Instructors

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

The camp environment is often hot, humid, or rainy. You must be able to work outside for sustained periods of time without air conditioning.

Position requires standing, stooping, sitting, walking long distances in hilly terrain, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds with or without assistance.

The Equestrian Consultant must be on call and may be called late at night or early in the morning to provide support to the instructors or horses in an urgent or emergency situation.

Ability to react quickly to emergency situations with quick movements or strenuous action, to ensure the safety of horses, staff, and campers.
