The Role Itself The Behavioral Health Technician acts as a representative of treatment staff and observes all client activity and maintains a visible presence for the clients. The Behavioral Health Technician at times may be responsible for driving the company vehicle to ensure clients arrive safely and on time for scheduled appointments and meetings.
Understands and maintains confidentiality of client information and records
Documents client information in EMR
Ensures clients attend scheduled activities and required groups
Provides appropriate help during emergency situations
Builds positive relationships with clients and staff
Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment
Provides a safe, therapeutic environment for clients
Provides a daily report to management
Facilitates client’s rules and responsibilities. Reports noncompliance to management.
Collects urine samples from clients
Performs searches and/or random searches when drug activity/suspicion is reported
Always follows Infection Control Guidelines
Helps clean and maintain facility cleanliness
Ability to be on feet throughout assigned shift
Assists Management, Clinical and Nursing with client’s day to day operations as needed
Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours when needed
An understanding of the 12-step recovery process preferred
Must have an acceptable driving record
Job RequirementsEducation:
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or Behavioral Health field is a plus.
Demonstration of group facilitation skills, knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatments.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
CDCA Certification preferred
Work Experience:
At least one year of experience in a mental/behavioral health or treatment facility preferred
Other Requirements
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Teamwork, flexibility needed to fulfill job responsibilities, adapting to changes in work environment and accepting supervisory feedback.
Adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines affecting the work environment, as well as maintenance of required competencies and communications skills.
