SUMMARY

Using complex drawings and blue prints, maintain existing production tooling, machine repair parts for equipment, and create custom tooling and prototypes for special projects.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate conventional industrial machine tool equipment such as knee mills, lathes, O.D. and surface grinders to fabricate and repair steel tooling, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures and machine parts.

Use measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers and dial indicators to verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications and tolerances.

Conduct test runs with completed parts to ensure proper fit and function.

Maintain build and modification records for new and repaired parts.

Other tasks as assigned that are within the scope of this position.

OTHER JOB CRITERIA

Adhere to safety policies and practices.

Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.

Some irregular work hours, shifts and overtime.

Maintain cooperative working relationships.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Non-air conditioned manufacturing plant environment with exposure to heat, grime, dust, smoke and noise.

Positions during the day include, but are not limited to long periods of standing, bending, stretching, leaning, stooping and twisting.

Motions include, but are not limited to, walking, pushing, pulling, gripping, lifting, typing, writing and carrying of objects up to 100 lbs.

Safety equipment worn as needed is protective clothing, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, face shields and respirators.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or GED.

Post-high school technical training and 2 - 5 years of machining experience, or

Significant industrial on-the-job experience in lieu of technical training.

Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

Able to understand and follow instructions given in English.

Able to earn forklift driving certification.

Basic math and computer skills.
