Assistant Controller

Description Robert Half is currently recruiting for an established company in Fort Myers that is looking for an Assistant Controller to join their accounting team. This person will be reporting up to the Controller and be responsible for overseeing a small team, financial reporting, month-end close, and assist with a system implementation. Make relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like actual spend against budgets/outlook, the monthly flash report, and key financial metrics.

Draw up numerous procedures, policies, and technical accounting analyses.

Name and create process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency.

Support to ensure a competent, trained staff through development, regular assessment, and goal setting.

Create accountability and the meeting of deliverables.

Facilitate the accounting team during the closing process to see to it that deadlines are met.

Financial reporting, fiscal reports, and month/year-end close processes.

Aid implementation and guarantee adherence to accounting policies and procedures.

Assure regular account reconciliation to completion.

Backfill for Controller where applicable.

Enhanced preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits.

Help with the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA highly preferred

8+ years of experience as a Senior Accountant and/or Assistant Controller

Advanced Microsoft Excel experience

Knowledge of SEC Reporting

Proficient in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
