Personal Care Attendant (PCA)

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

- Provide direct personal care- bathing, shampoo hair, comb/brush hair, brushing teeth, and dressing assistance for 12-year-old male.

- Provide nutrition needs: prepare meals, supervise and assist client with eating (choking hazard); and support client for safe food or liquid intake.

- Administer medication and nutritional supplements via a g-tube and epi-pen (prn.)

- Provide direct assistance with elimination- assist client in bathroom; provide wiping and deposing of solid pull-ups.

- Assist client with directly inserting hearing aids and maintain proper cleaning care & charging of hearing aids.

- Assist client with directly and properly placing foot brace on right foot.

- Provide supervision that ensures health and safety standards.

- Perform basic housekeeping duties for client, such as laundry and changing bed linens.

Requirements and Skills:

- Proven experience as a personal care assistant.

- Proven experience caring for children.

- Proven experience with administering g-tube feedings and use of an epi-pen.

- Committed to Health & Safety Standards: First Aid and CPR certified.

- Has reliable transportation to travel to Chantilly area.

- Reliable access to phone/communication.

- Have ability to transport clients to appointments, errands, and other off-site locations.

- Utilize augmentative communication (AAC) device, sign language, and gestures to communicate with client.

- Excellent communication and social skills.

- Able to physically complete housework and cooking/preparing meals.

- Well-organized and reliable.

- Positive, patient, and compassionate attitude.

- Strong ethics.

- Physically able to provide mobility support on uneven surfaces or navigating various environments, as well as supporting client out during physical outings in the community (i.e. bike ride, playground, sporting games).

- 5 hours per day (Monday-Sunday); 35 hours total per week

- Immediate availability (March 1, 2024).
