Learning how to prep for a varity of cuisine. Position SummaryPrep Cook is responsible for the preparation of daily entrees/items, featuring daily changing menus with knowledge of culinary ingredients. Prepare ingredients and cook according to established guidelines, understand methods of cooking. Experience as a cook in an upscale restaurant or corporate dining establishment preferred. Must possess knowledge of quantity food production, presentation, service and sanitation. Candidates must understand the use of various kitchen equipment including steamer, ovens, fryer, grill, steam kettle, meat slicer, blender, mixer, chopper, food processor, knives, convection oven, etc. Must be well organized and well groomed in appearance at all times.Duties and Responsibilities:Maintains proper food temperatures of foods during preparation and service; pre-preps food according to the menu; notifies chef immediately when food and supplies are not available; maintains food production areas in a clean, neat and orderly manner; cleans assigned areas following established cleaning procedures and schedules; performs other duties as assigned; displays cooperation with co-workers.Experience, Skills and Requirements:2 years of cooking experience preferred in "from scratch" environments and/or culinary educationExperience in quantity food production, presentation, service and sanitation and knowledge of healthful, nutritional-based cuisine preferredDisplay a passion for food and cooking and be self-motivatedComputer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and WordBasic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skillsBe able to speak clearly and listen attentively to staff, peers, supervisors, guests and clientsBe able to read and write to facilitate the communication processPrepares equipment and obtains supplies as neededMaintains the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen including all floors, equipment, workstations and wallsComply with standards for merchandising, stocking, and storing productAssists with cleaning, stocking and lifting items in other areas as requestedWelcomes and connects with every customerCorrectly follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelinesMaintain the highest standards of conduct and confidentialityContinually grows in knowledgeLooks for new training opportunities and takes advantage of new trainingMay perform additional responsibilities as requested by a ManagerMust have approved Food Handler's Card, kitchen knives and non-slip shoes prior to first day of workWorking Conditions:This position will spend 100% of time standingFast pace work environmentEnvironmental exposure to cold, heat and waterLift up to 50 poundsMust be able to understand sanitation directionsRead and understand basic cooking directionsWhat's in this for you?

Learning how to prep for a varity of cuisine.As a Prep Cook you are responsible for the daily preparation and cooking of food items in the pantry, fry and/or stations or other areas of the kitchen. This position is responsible for other duties in the areas of food and final plate presentation including plating and garnishing of cooked items.Requirements: Approved Food Handler's Card and non-slip shoes prior to first day of workDescription/Day-to-Day

Prepare ingredients and cook according to established guidelines, understand methods of cooking.

Experience as a cook in an upscale restaurant or corporate dining establishment preferred. Must possess knowledge of quantity food production, presentation, service and sanitation.

Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.

Replenish the serving line.

Typically, performs made to order cooking and grill cooking duties in preparing food items to be served to customers.

Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.

Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments.

Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.

Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.

May clean and sanitize workstations and equipment and must follow all company, client and regulatory rules and procedures.

Set steam tables; serve or ensure proper serving of food.

Key Qualifications:

Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures

Being able to multi-task, work quickly, and effectively within a team

3-4 years high volume food service - preferably larger, innovative corporate programs

May also be food and beverage experience in a full-service hotel, resort, or multi-restaurant chain

You must be approachable with a service orientated mentality

We are also looking for people with strong attention to detail and well organized.

Demonstrated excellent time management skills

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred
