Summary This position is part of the WAPA-DSW-Desert Southwest Region. As a Safety and Occupational Health Manager, you will manage the Region's Federal Employee Safety and Occupational Health (FESOH), in accordance with applicable Federal, State, Department of Energy (DOE) laws, regulations, policies, and requirements, along with the industry consensus standards. Responsibilities As a Safety and Occupational Health Manager , you will: Manage the region's employee safety and occupational health program in accordance with applicable Federal, State and local laws, regulations, policies and industry standards. You will develop and direct the implementation of the program which encompasses a large range of environment and functions. You will guide and counsel line managers, supervisors, and personnel to mitigate hazards inherent in high-voltage electrical systems. You will also represent the region on an agency-wide safety council and participate on various teams as a subject matter expert. You will also supervise a staff of multiple safety specialists. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. This employer participates in the e-Verify program. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Travel of up to 50% annually is required; with overnight travel of 8-12 days per month on average. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience implementing a safety program and leading a team of safety professionals. Experience applying knowledge of safety and health standards, laws, codes, and policies for employees engaged in a broad range of high-hazard functions such as the construction, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage power systems. Experience communicating safety practices to craft employees, contractors, and management officials to ensure measures are in place for the safe operation and maintenance of high-voltage power systems. Education For this position, education cannot be substituted for experience.
