Scope of Duties

Elecraft designs and manufactures high-performance HF radio transceivers, amplifiers, and accessories for commercial, military, and amateur radio market. Duties include setting up or devising standard or automated test equipment to conduct functional, operational tests to evaluate the performance and reliability of prototype or production assemblies. Analyze test results and repair and debug or adjust assemblies according to analysis. Recommend corrections and improvements to test procedures to simplify testing and/or assembly processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired:

Familiarity with HF transceiver design.

Analog and digital experience.

Demonstrated ability to interpret and use wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering work instructions.

Must possess knowledge of a wide variety of thru-hole and surface mount parts with respect to polarity and component identification.

Must be proficient in the use of general test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and watt meters)

Ability to measure minimal discernible signal, inter-modulation distortion, return loss, and standing wave ratio.

Skilled through-hole and SMT soldering with essential rework.

Help develop processes, tooling, and fixtures as required.

Ensure that all test equipment calibration requirements are maintained.

Prepare detailed technical reports and other testing-related records.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

Must have good color perception, eyesight, and the ability to effectively use magnification aids such as binocular microscopes and related test equipment. Must have good hand-eye coordination and the ability to use essential hand tools. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds comfortably. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands, reach with hands and arms, bend and twist to lift items, and talk or hear.

Desired Education and Experience

Associate of Science Degree in Electronic Technology or equivalent training in Electronics Technology

Minimum three years of relevant electronics experience

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

Amateur radio experience and knowledge of radio architecture at the block diagram level is a plus.
