Tax Preparer

The Tax Preparer will be responsible for communicating with clients about the tax preparation process, setting appointments, and assisting with tax preparation and filing. Our client handles personal state and federal returns, and provides commercial tax support to smaller enterprises.For immediate consideration for this position, please reach out to us at (248)205-5580 and ask for a staffing manager.The Tax Preparer will be responsible for:Preparing income tax return forms for businesses and individuals.

Review various financial records like income statements, receipts of expenditures and previous tax returns to determine a strategy for preparing current returns.

Interview clients to get information on deductible expenses, allowances and taxable income.

4 Uses tax form instructions and tax tables to make proper entries on the tax form and compute the amount of taxes an individual or business owes.5 Consult tax resources and law books to obtain assistance with atypical returns.Verifies forms that individuals prepared themselves to check for errors or miscalculations.

Calculate proper fee to charge each customer for tax preparation services based on the complexity of each form and the amount of time required for the work.

Takes continuing education courses to stay up-to-date on changes in federal and state tax codes.

RequirementsThe ideal candidate will have:Excellent reading comprehension skills as well as superior problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge of tax law, legal codes, precedents, government regulations and Internal Revenue Service rules.

Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills.

Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

Expertise in tax software such as Drake, Quicken, Tax Wise, etc.
