Skilled landscaper/Professional gardener
Oregon, Eugene , 97401 Eugene USA

Foxwood Gardens LLC is looking for the right person to join our crew. We are a small landscaping company (currently 5 people) serving Eugene/Springfield and the surrounding area. Our goal is to create and care for ecologically sound gardens and outdoor spaces. We design, install and maintain a wide variety of gardens in rural and urban settings. We take pride in our work and enjoy what we do, and would like to find another enthusiastic, self-motivated landscaper to work with.

The majority of our work is caring for, maintaining and making alterations to existing gardens. Many of our clients hire us because they trust our knowledge of plants. But our work addresses the entire garden, and encompasses irrigation systems, retaining walls, paths and patios, rock features, drainage systems, water features, outdoor lighting, carpentry work such as fences, arbors and raised beds, and most other aspects of landscaping. We also manage some woodland and pasture areas, which require us to do mowing, brush cutting, tree felling, firewood processing, trail building and maintenance, invasive species control.

The recent ice storm has put us behind with our work. We still have a lot of trees and debris to clean up, and a lot of fruit trees to prune before starting a two-month new garden installation project. This will coincide with the onset of spring, when we will experience a big increase in our time sensitive work load. Therefore, we require at this time an experienced gardener/landscaper who does not require basic training.

Applicants to this position should be skilled with typical landscaping tools and be familiar with doing professional garden work. They should know how to be a useful component of an efficiently working team. Skills in any aspect of landscape installation are desired, but an appreciation for plants and gardens is essential. Our new hire should be capable of adapting to our approach to gardening and landscaping and should aim to quickly get to the point where they can work unsupervised to our expectations.

We work Monday to Thursday throughout the year. In winter we work shorter days and take some days off due to weather. From spring to fall we typically work 35 hours or more in a week, except in periods of extreme heat or smoke. Compensation will be based on experience and skill level, and will be discussed at the interview. We will negotiate a rate for a four-week trial period, after which the rate will be renegotiated if both parties wish to proceed working together.

We try our best to provide a fulfilling and enjoyable working experience for our crew. But it takes the whole crew making the effort to achieve this. If you think we might be a good fit for you, please let us know. To apply, email your resume and an introductory letter to the email address listed. We will be contacting applicants to arrange interviews in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your interest!
