Director of Sales - Solar panel test equipment
Background:
BrightSpot Automationis a leading provider of specialized manufacturing and measurement tools for the solar energy industry and researchers. We are dedicated to helping our customers improve solar panel durability and performance by providing testing solutions for all PV technologies. Our expertise lies in solar cell and solar panel defect imaging, and we offer electroluminescence, photoluminescence, and UV fluorescence camera systems for imaging cracked cells and other defects in still images or video. We sell our solutions through the entire PV value chain, including R&D, product development, manufacturing, distribution, field testing, and recycling. We sell to both the terrestrial and space PV industries. Our systems include cameras, accessories (e.g., drone integration), and custom software to acquire images, enhance them, and automate the detection and quantification of the defects.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Director of Sales to join our team. This hire will report directly to the President of the company and have responsibility for all domestic and international sales of BrightSpot testing equipment. Customers cover the entire value chain of photovoltaics including, universities, R&D institutes, product design groups, manufacturing lines, quality control groups, equipment and materials suppliers, testing labs, field testing groups, and recycling/reuse companies.
Responsibilities:
Executes company sales strategy including: prospecting, cultivating new accounts, preparing quotations, and closing orders to meet sales targets
Acts as a liaison between potential customers and key company team members
Responds to phone and email sales requests
Manages the relationships with global distributors/sales-reps
Travels to customer sites globally to develop sales opportunities
Attends tradeshows and conferences as needed
Manages design/layout of tradeshow booths
Learns how to operate testing equipment for demonstrations
Provides management with accurate sales forecasts and past sales summaries
Represents the company in a highly professional manner
Maintains sales data and prospects in a database
Maintains up to date presentation slide decks and brochures
Work with our technical staff, communicating customer requirements and our capabilities/responses.

Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Prior experience selling equipment is preferred
Minimum of 2 years of business-to-business industrial sales experience
Bachelor’s degree required; engineering focus preferred with business classes a plus
Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
Able and willing to travel both domestically and internationally (typically 10-25% travel)
Computer and technological literacy, including Powerpoint and Excel

The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $130,000 and is partly linked to sales commissions.
