Director Incident ManagementPOSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Incident Management leads a dedicated team of Investigators and Incident Coordinators who are responsible for incident management and investigations under applicable program regulations. The Director ensures compliance with Elwyn policies, regulatory guidelines and licensing requirements. The Director oversees the workflow, reports on trends, and recommends changes. The Director may be required to conduct investigations depending on staffing needs. This is a hybrid role with both in office and remote work. Occasional in-person tasks and some travel is expected.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are assigned to the Manager of Incident Management

Manages the day-to-day work of assigned area Incident Coordinators and Investigators

Provides supervision of assigned staff in the areas including, but not limited to, recruitment, selection, leadership, coaching, training, performance management, promotion, discipline and termination

Reviews investigation reports prior to administrative wrap-up meetings to ensure they are well written, compliant and complete

Serves as member of Administrative Review Committee and supports Incident Coordinators and Investigators in leading, presenting and completing investigation wrap-ups

Periodically accompanies Investigators during investigation activities to model and train on proper investigation techniques and conduct

Collects data to Identify trends for specific areas based on investigations and findings

Develops recommendations to Elwyn's General Counsel and/or applicable program leader for changes to operational processes based on trends and patterns

Reviews and contributes to plans of correction for specific issues to ensure the actions are complete and in line with current corporate organizational goals and expectations

Manages investigation workflow and queue ensuring that all investigations are assigned taking into consideration investigator workload, skill and experience. Assigns resources as appropriate.

Develops and reports on Key Performance Indicators related to timelines and report completion

Maintains current operational knowledge of incident management and investigation requirements in all applicable states

Monitors regulatory changes and guidance relating to reportable incidents and related investigations

Develops best practices and drafts policies and procedures for conducting thorough investigations. Implements policies and procedures upon approval by Elwyn's General Counsel and/or applicable program leader

Verifies that violation findings have been resolved by the established deadlines and that corrective action plans have been implemented.

Ensures that the corrective portion of the administrative review is shared with the applicable Quality Improvement department

Reviews and audits investigation results to ensure that reportable incidents and finalized reports are entered into all systems within assigned timeframes

Participates in departmental, cross-departmental and corporate meetings as assigned, including in-person attendance when required

Maintains a current file of all Incident Management bulletins and regulatory standards keeping them accessible to their team and others in the organization as a point of reference

Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in healthcare, risk management, criminal justice, social work or similar area plus four (4) years' experience in Healthcare or Human Services Investigations

Two (2) years of supervisory or management experience

Has or obtains certified Investigator training certification for assigned states and programs within six (6) months of hire. Maintains certification throughout holding this position

Excellent judgement, interviewing skills

Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective collaborative relatio ships with Company leadership and staff and external stakeholders including regulators

Advanced research, analytical, and problem solving skills

Strong decision-making, organizational, and planning skills

Demonstrated capability for legal research, analysis and reasoning

Average to advanced skills with Microsoft Office suite specifically, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

Ability to multi-task several priorities and multiple-demanding projects

Ability to identify and resolve complicated and sensitive problems creatively and with professional discretion

Ability to interact and function effectively in a complex, multi state, multi licensed environment

Broad knowledge of healthcare and/or non-profit law preferred

Must have valid drivers' license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, an acceptable driving record, and access to reliable transportation
