Laboratory Supervisor - Institute for Drug DiscoveryGalveston, Texas, United StatesNewClinical LaboratoryUTMB HealthRequisition # 2401677Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in basic science or equivalent with at least 3 years of research experience.Job Summary:Supervises the laboratory and provides operational management, technical support, laboratory training, and mentorship related to research.Job Duties:

Responsible for the ongoing supervision of the laboratory.

Accountable for all budgets involved in the completion of ongoing experiments.

Ability to provide staffing of the laboratory as a 24 hour functioning facility.

Assists in writing and editing documentation of experiments and in the preparation of the laboratory for these experiments.

Schedules all of the procedures to be performed and the experiments to be carried out.

Performs the majority of procedures in the laboratory and supervises the laboratory technician in setting up and performing the experiments.

Supports postdoctoral fellows in designing and completion of experimental protocols.

Assists in design and preparation of abstracts and posters.

Designs and carries out research protocols.

Assists in the writing and editing of manuscripts to be published in major scientific journals, and in writing grants.

Responsible for hiring laboratory personnel.

Identifies appropriate internal controls for the department and provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

Responsible for data collection and proper storage, maintaining the laboratory equipment, and inventory, and for the quality of the ongoing studies

Adheres to internal controls established by the department.
