Distinguished from Associate Fleet Technician by exercising independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the garage and keeping it clean and orderly, as well as servicing automotive electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems.Additional responsibilities include: Maintaining company vehicles by keeping them well-lubricated, fueled, and cleaned Performing routine maintenance and repairs on automotive equipment. Repairing and maintaining construction equipment Servicing automotive equipment by lubricating, changing oil, repairing tires, washing, and packing wheel bearings Assist with mounting vehicle toolboxes, welding equipment, generators, and compressors Completes necessary records of work performed Perform other duties as requested or assignedSenior Fleet TechnicianThis is the third level position in the Fleet Technician progression. Distinguished from the Fleet Technician, Senior Fleet Technicians must be experienced and capable of independently performing complex diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and servicing of cars, light-/medium-/heavy-duty trucks, and off-road construction equipment in a safe, efficient, and quality manner. Senior Fleet Technicians also independently repair and maintain alternate fuel vehicles and equipment. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the garage and keeping it clean and orderly, as well as servicing automotive electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems.Additional responsibilities include: Perform complex repairs on vehicles, motorized construction and other work equipment including electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems; Mounts vehicle bodies, toolboxes, welding equipment, generators, and compressors; Provides assistance, advice, and solutions to co-workers; Assist with repairs and maintains CNG compression and dispensing equipment; Completes necessary records of work performed; Maintains garage in clean and orderly condition.There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceFleet Technician Minimum Qualifications : High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of directly related experience; OR Vocational/trade school certificate in related program and 1 year of directly related experience Directly Related Experience includes: repair and servicing of passenger and light duty-trucks, medium- to heavy-duty trucks, and repair and servicing of off-road/construction equipmentKnowledge: Automotive and construction equipment operation and maintenance; basic math.Abilities: Communicate effectively, orally and in writing; distinguish the nature of sounds to determine if equipment is running correctly; respond to emergency conditions, which may include changing flat tires, and chaining up vehicles; diagnosing and repairing automotive and construction equipment; using hand and power tools, such as hoists, saws, wrenches, and hammers. Must possess, or acquire within a reasonable timeframe, a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) May require travel in on off-road conditions Possession of own hand toolsPreferred Qualifications:Associate's degree and 3 years of directly related experience; OR5 years directly related experience as a fleet technician or equivalentExtensive knowledge and experience with CNG equipmentPossession of current/valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certificationBasic knowledge of Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) conversion technology and CNG compression and dispensing equipment.Knowledge of alternatively fueled vehicles (natural gas vehicles (NGV's) and compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling equipment, electric vehicles, etc. where applicable.Additional InformationSenior Fleet Technician Minimum Qualifications : High school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of directly related experience; or Vocational/trade school certificate in related program and 3-5+ years of directly related experience Directly Related Experience includes: repair and servicing of passenger and light duty-trucks, medium- to heavy-duty trucks, and repair and servicing of off-road/construction equipmentKnowledge: Advanced knowledge of gasoline and diesel automotive, motorized construction, and work equipment; and basic math.Abilities: Diagnose and repair automotive and construction equipment; distinguish the nature of sounds to determine if equipment is running correctly; operate the range of vehicles from automobiles to light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks as well as construction equipment such as backhoes and trenchers; use repair equipment such as welders, torque wrenches, drills, grinders as well as hand & power tools such as hoists, saws, wrenches, and hammers; respond to emergency conditions, which may include changing flat tires or chaining up vehicles in on- and off-road conditions; and communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Must possess, or acquire within a reasonable timeframe, a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) May require travel in on off-road conditions Possession of own hand toolsPreferred Qualifications:Eight years of directly related experience;Automotive/vehicle maintenance certification (ASE or equivalent for automobiles, light-duty trucks, or medium- to heavy-duty trucks, alternate fuel vehicles, etc.);Advanced knowledge of electrical, computer, hydraulic, fuel, and exhaust systems as well as power trains;Possession of current and valid CDL.Knowledge of alternatively fueled vehicles (natural gas vehicles (NGV’s) and compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling equipment, electric vehicles, etc. where applicable.Knowledge of NGV conversion technology, CNG compression, storage, and dispensing equipment.Education RequirementsDegree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: High School Diploma, GEDLicenses, Certifications, or Quals Description Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
