Staff Accountant

Description Robert Half is partnering with a great manufacturing client that is in search of an Accountant to join their team. This is a great opportunity for a candidate looking to join a stable, well-established manufacturing company in the Metro Detroit area. This is an on site role.MOST IMPORTANT KEYS:

Bach Accounting/Finance/Business

5+ years of accounting and finance exp

Some financial modeling exp. is a plus

SAP a plus

Candidate must be ok doing mainly accounts payable and accounts receivable initially while a person who has been promoted transitions to a new role.

JOB DESCRIPTION:Our client is in the process of looking for an Accountant. This position is an on-site position located in Sterling Heights at their Corporate office reporting to the CFO of the North America region and the General Manager.There responsibilities are as follow with other tasks as assigned or as apparent:

Performs a range of accounting tasks and conducts/documents projects relating to financial accounting functions such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting and inventory and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.

Prepares and reconciles general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations and complex accounts to include identifying variances and verifying the accuracy of journal entries.

Prepares various account analyses and adjustments related to fixed assets, surcharges, discounts etc.

Code check requests and invoices to the appropriate ledger accounts and departments.

Recommends and drives process improvements within the accounting department.

Prepares ad hoc reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Reviews forecasting / budgeting information for accuracy and reasonableness.

Assists internal/external contacts in overall review and analysis; reports any areas of concern to the CFO.

Complies recommendations, solutions or suggested improvements with existing processes and procedures related to new types of reports, reporting system revisions, changes in instructions regarding use of accounts and new refined account classifications or definitions.

Provides accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational areas managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities.

Ensures complete understanding of existing processes and procedures.

Requirements

The must have the following:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

Minimum of 5 years of related accounting experience

Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards.

Demonstrated experience with financial systems, financial analysis and data query tools required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and detail oriented.

Ability to devise or modify methods or processes to solve specific problems and ability to manage multiple projects and work under time pressures to meet established deadlines.
