Machinist - Manual

Astro Mechanics is seeking a Manual Machinist (day shift only) for machine shop & welding shop. We manufacture shafts, bushing, collars, sleeves etc. We repair end bells, shafts, gear boxes, pumps housing, breaker bodies etc. We also cut external & internal keyways, do all kinds of threading, boring, drilling and tapping on all types of heavy equipment.

Need to have 3 years’ experience on manual lathes & manual mills.

Need to be able to setup and operate manual lathes and mills and develop a plan of action to manufacture the part according to the specifications.

Need to be able to read and interpret sketches, drawings and/or blueprints, and be able to read calipers.

Need to be able to work with close tolerances and have own calipers, dial indicators, etc.

Need to have problem solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process.

Work hours are 8am to 4:30pm, M-F. Uniforms, direct deposit, holiday pay, medical and dental insurance are offered after a 90-day probationary period.

After one year of employment, an employee will receive 40 hours of vacation and 40 hours of sick leave. After 5 years of employment, an employee will receive 80 hours of vacation and 40 hours of sick leave.
