Non-Exempt, Full-time.

Starting at $27.50 per hour, based on qualifications and on the Oregon Pay Equity Act, plus an additional 5% for a Bachelor's Degree and/or 2.5% for intermediate Spanish ability.
Position Overview:
The Community Service Officer supports the duties of the Patrol Bureau operations and the Community Services Unit in the Springfield Police Department. This position responds to non-emergency calls for service such as arranging for the towing of vehicles, retrieving stolen and recovered property, and providing assistance at accident scenes.
This position is non-sworn (i.e. doesn’t attend the Police Academy), but is a great opportunity to learn about the Springfield Police Department and a career in law enforcement. The ideal Community Service Officer candidate will have a passion for serving others and having a positive impact in the community.

Community Service Officer Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
18 years of age by time of appointment
Valid Oregon Driver's License by time of appointment with a safe driving record
No felony convictions (i.e. the ability to obtain access to the Oregon Law Enforcement Data System)
Refrain from tobacco products while on duty
Ability to pass a background investigation
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
Ability to meet physical, medical, and psychological requirements for the position
1 year of experience effectively working with the public (prior law enforcement training or education may substituted)
Preference for bilingual Spanish skill
Preference for those with previous CSO experience
