The Fabrication Team Lead is responsible for overseeing their Fabrication team's daily operations, ensuring the efficient production of components or systems required for strategic or tactical vehicles in a manufacturing shop environment. This role involves managing 4-8 Team Members, optimizing processes, maintaining quality standards, and collaborating with various departments to meet production goals. Essential Functions / Responsibility: Team Leadership:

Supervise, mentor, and motivate a team of fabrication technicians.

Delegate tasks and ensure the team meets production targets.

Train an Assistant Team Lead.

Orchestrate conflict resolution, resource scheduling, planning, meeting facilitation, leadership, and team building.

Support reviews of Team Members and performance management through appropriate observation and documentation.

Ensure completion of comprehensive training and documentation of training for all Team Members under your leadership.

Production Management:

Coordinate and oversee the fabrication process from components to finished products.

Monitor workflow to ensure timely and efficient production.

Operate daily according to Leader Standard Work (LSW).

Maintain and manage effectively through performance and skill development processes for continuous improvement.

Quality Assurance:

Implement quality control measures to maintain high-quality standards in fabrication processes.

Conduct inspections and audits to ensure adherence to specifications.

Ensure each project is built in adherence to all Nomad QC requirements and documentation is complete (per LSW).

Process Optimization:

Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement within the Fabrication department.

Implement changes to optimize workflow.

Perform all the functions of a Fabrication Technician including, but not limited to: Welding (Tig, Mig, Laser), Shearing, Cutting, Assembling, Project Layout, etc. Read, understand, and apply Engineer CAD drawings to production requirements.

Lead and direct the respective crew in the manufacture of projects while meeting key metric requirements: DLH, IDL, Time and Attendance, Production Rework, OT, efficiency, and safety targets.

Maintain 5S, shop floor cleanliness, and clear connection to IC for kitting and parts queue.

Collaboration:

Liaise with other departments such as CNC Fabrication, Engineering, and Production to ensure alignment in production schedules, materials procurement, and product specifications.

Lead daily startups through Tier 1 meetings.

Tie teams to the department and support groups through Tier 2 meetings with the Fabrication Manager. Daily reporting to team at Tier 1 and to Program Manager at Tier 2.

Safety and Compliance:

Uphold safety protocols and compliance standards in the Fabrication area.

Implement and enforce safety measures to create a secure working environment.

Ensure Team Members are up to date on safety training requirements.

Assist Fabrication Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining production standards, SOPs, quality, and safety.

Additional duties as requested.

Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Engineering and Technology – Knowledge of the practical application of engineering. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and design.

Building and Construction – Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of our communication platforms.

Safety and Security – Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote a safe and working environment 100% of the time.

Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards in manufacturing/fabrication settings.

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Proficiency in project management, problem solving, and decision making.

Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and equipment.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear and is occasionally required to sit.

Position requires physical stamina necessary to work in awkward positions, standing up for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting.

The employee must frequently lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything heavier than 50 pounds will require two people to lift / carry.

Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish individual colors.

Working Environment:

The work environment is a partially environmentally controlled indoor environment. Depending upon the time of year, temperatures can fluctuate between 60F and 100F but is typically around 70F. There are times when working outside will be required.

The employee must have the ability to work from heights at the ground floor up to 20 feet from the ground on ladders or platforms of varying sizes.

The employee may be subjected to noise levels, ranging from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time, which will be provided.

The employee will be exposed to a variety of household/commercial chemicals that will require the employee to follow company rules/regulations outlined by that SDS.

All Team Members must wear provided OSHA approved eye protection at all times in manufacturing areas. The employee will be required to wear provided safety eyewear throughout the performance of their duties.

Qualifications & Experience:

High School Diploma or GED; Higher education strongly desired.

1+ years of experience at Nomad GCS, Inc. preferred.

Proven experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or related roles, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership/supervisory position.

Experience with inventory management systems, and E2.

Demonstrate experience, knowledge, or aptitude in Lean methodology.

Leadership qualities with the ability to train, motivate and manage a team effectively.
