The Golden Rain Foundation, Rossmoor Walnut Creek is seeking a Fitness & Aquatics Program Coordinator. This position is responsible for coordinating the performance objectives of the Fitness Instructors and is responsible for developing and promoting wellness recreation programs for the Fitness Center.

Assists Manager with fitness department oversight, which may include payroll processing, goal setting, staff performance management, instructing fitness classes, staff scheduling, and program development and implementation.

Supports the Manager in responding to members’ feedback and concerns, and in communicating to Rossmoor clubs and residents’ information about rules and policies of the Fitness and Aquatics programs and Facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Works with the Fitness and Aquatics Manager to develop standard and creative programs to meet the health and fitness needs and interest of the Rossmoor community.

Provides coordination of Trainers’ service goals, i.e. assessments, free classes, personal training sessions.

Prepare fitness schedules, coordinates fitness team division of duties, and reviews Training staff payroll.

May assist the Fitness and Aquatics Manager in conducting safety training and ensure all Trainers maintain appropriate certifications/licenses/permits as required by role.

Instructs residents on the proper use of facility equipment, and teaches groups and individuals on appropriate principles, techniques and methods of physical health and activity engagement.

Communicates and promotes fitness programs to residents in order to reach maximum exposure and facility/class attendance.

May teach group fitness classes based on acquired certifications and training, and with the express approval from the Community Services Director.

Interface with residents to maintain resident awareness of fitness issues, fitness center resources, and other community resources as appropriate.

Works with other departments in developing and supporting resident fitness events and opportunities (i.e. resident health fair, recreation events, etc.)

Performs other duties as assigned falling within the purview of the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in the fitness industry.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in the fitness field as a trainer; may substitute up to 2 years’ relevant experience in a related health services field.

Demonstrated excellence in customer service, time and priority management.

Demonstrated excellence in team leadership and collaboration.

Excellent verbal and written communications.

Competent in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), Zoom, and fitness center/health club related software.

Experience with a diverse Senior population.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Education/Degrees:

High School diploma, GED or equivalent

o AA in Business, current First Aid and CPR certifications all highly desirable

Advanced fitness trainer certifications from nationally recognized organizations.

AED/CPR/First Aid Certified

Additional Requirements:

Clean and valid California driver license and satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.

Ability to meet the Dept. of Homeland Security requirements confirming identity and right to work in the United States is required.

Offer is contingent upon satisfactorily passing pre-employment physical, drug test and physical capabilities assessment.
