DescriptionTHE ROLEReporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, NPS, the Senior Director of Surgical and Interventional Services, will have leadership oversight of surgical and interventional service operations across the North Puget Sound Service Area, with primary serve locations at the two acute campuses, Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (PRMCE) and Swedish Edmonds (SED).The Senior Director will be responsible with systemically engaging all service area, divisional, system and service line/clinical institute leadership; develop strong relationship with physicians across Providence Swedish, facilities medical staff, and medical groups (including community) to ensure support of the North Puget Sound's Service Area strategic plan, with highly reliable care and appropriate utilization of resources. With a constant focus on whole person care, quality, caregivers, and patient safety, the Senior Director maintains standards and systems for care delivery across the North Puget Sound Service Area.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develops a process to formulate and manage an integrated plan for areas of responsibility that implements North Puget Sound Service Area’s strategic and operational plan, with established key performance indicators. Periodically monitors, tracks, and updates plans to evaluate effectiveness to make data-driven decisions to reflect changing needs and strategic opportunities.

Identify opportunity areas for growth and expansion in service lines, analyze market trends, financial data, and operational metrics to develop business cases for new initiatives and investments.

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance of areas of responsibility. Prepares capital equipment budget and operating budgets in collaboration with service area executives. Monitors operating statements to ensure that budgetary goals are met; and significant deviations are adequately understood, and appropriate action taken.

Collaborate with Chair of Surgery and/or Medical Director(s), medical staff, and core leaders, to provide leadership and direction that promotes coordinated patient care and improved interdisciplinary communication for all aspects of operations, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow optimization through the development of common standards, protocols, policies, and procedures for all activities under areas of responsibilities.

Provide staff development by selecting, coaching, and mentoring core leaders and caregivers of the team to align with the values and to foster a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

Works closely with quality and accreditation leaders to maintain regulatory readiness of inspections by accrediting agencies such as the State of Washington, Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Joint Commission, OSHA, etc. Similarly, partners with leaders to implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes and improved satisfaction, and with the Environment of Care and Emergency Preparedness to strengthen plans and readiness.

Leverage expertise and interest in other areas; represent the service area leadership in divisional and system committees, serve as an operational expert to labor and delivery, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, and master’s degree in nursing, Business Management or Health Administration.

5 years of operational leadership experience in surgical services and/or interventional services.

5 years of progressive management experience in a complex, multi-site health system.
