King David Tacos - Hiring Part time or Full time Prep Cook

King David Tacos makes New York City's best breakfast tacos, and we are hiring for a part-time or full-time Prep Cook in our commissary kitchen in Prospect Heights.

Days: Saturday through Wednesday (Ideally, but can be flexible)

AM shifts (7am-3pm) shift times and days might vary based on the needs of the business.

We're in the breakfast business, so timeliness in the early mornings is a must! This position is available immediately and there is always opportunity for long-term growth as we expand.

What you'll be doing:

7am-3pm =

- Bulk preparation of ingredients and finished product, e.g. salsas, vegetables, meats, spice mixes, marinades, cutting vegetables

- Cooking basic ingredients to be used in production (eggs, proteins, vegetables)

Requirements:

- At least 2 years of kitchen experience

- Food Protection Certification (Food Handler's License) preferred ($1 more/hour with Food Protection Certificate)

- A commitment to making a consistent product that you are proud of

- A self-starter and independent worker, much of your time earlier in the shift will be worked solo until other members of staff come in

- A desire to work smarter, and maximize your hours

- A team mentality and a good attitude

- A sense of urgency and a strong work ethic

- Solid knife skills

-Oven, Combi experience a plus

- Experience in a high-volume restaurant or commissary / production-centric kitchen

-This is an industrial environment and requires attention to safety, physical dexterity and intermittently required to use hands, arms, legs, feet, body, and trunk to carry, lift/lower, push/pull up to 50 lbs.
