Caregiver for my disabled daughter
California, San francisco bay area 00000 San francisco bay area USA

I am seeking a caregiver to provide companionship and support for young adult daughter. My daughter is sweet and cheerful and has a fun sense of humor. She is also very atypical. She can walk but can't balance so needs someone supporting her to prevent her from falling. She can communicate her moods and needs, but doesn't use any conventional signs. Although she needs a wheelchair to travel in public, she sits in regular chairs at home. She loves music, therapeutic horseback riding, going on walks around town, swinging on her swing, taking long baths, hanging out with her dog, and having people read to her aloud. Although she needs help with feeding, due to issues with her motor control, she loves to eat and has excellent taste in food. She is not a large person: she stands 5 feet tall and weighs around 90 pounds.

My daughter graduated in August 2022 from the Santa Cruz County Office of Education postgraduate program for young people with special needs. Her new life involves horseback riding, sharing stories as a reading ambassador in elementary school classrooms, swimming, bowling, roller skating, art and socializing with friends. If you take this position you will join a team of caregivers, who take different shifts with Millie. Your work will include personal care, including bathing and maintaining her toileting schedule. You will also prepare her meals, help her eat them, and clean up afterwards. You will help to dress her, do her laundry, and organize her clothes. You will find activities to do with her at home and in the community. Millie's caregivers get her up and ready for her day program and accompany her in her various activities. They take her on walks or trips downtown or to the pool and spend time with her at home.

I am eager to find someone cheerful, hardworking, organized, and reliable for this position. They should have a driver's license and a clean driving record. Millie's caregivers are open-minded and curious; they are eager to learn about different ways of experiencing the world. Our team of caregivers provides extensive training, and I pay for the hours required.

The pay rate is $30 per hour.

I am currently looking for someone who can work with Millie on Tuesdays from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you are interested, please reply to this posting with a cover letter and your resume. References required. You should either be approved for Aveanna or IHSS hours or be willing to enroll.
