Our client, an optometry school in Roslindale, MA, is seeking a temporary Patient Care Coordinator for a 6+ month contract. This role comprises a 40 hour/week schedule and entails rotating hours and some Saturdays. The ideal candidate must be flexible to work with this schedule, and the role compensates $23/hr. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply!ResponsibilitiesAnswer incoming telephone calls, greet and check in/check out patients in a professional, courteous, and timely mannerAcquire full knowledge of patient practice management softwareSchedule patients for appointments, follow up with no shows, and communicate any billing issues prior to appointmentsAccurately obtain and enter all demographics informationCollect insurance co-pays or self-pay balances. Communicate with the billing department regarding issues and clarifications involving billingReview billing benefits tab to ensure that appropriate procedures and diagnosis codes have been designated by providerMaintain and ensure HIPAA compliance with patient medical records and personal health informationPrepare paperwork for the next clinic day next day, confirm appointments, reconcile cash box on a daily basis. Promote culturally competent care and proactively make provisions for linguistically competent careRespond to staff doctor needs before, during, and after patient examUnderstanding the specifics related to various appointment types, proactively seek patient referrals and prior authorizations when neededNotify Specialty Care Coordinator about all contact lens orders and dispense contact lenses to patientsQualifications At least one full year demonstrated experience in a customer service setting, preferably six months receptionist experience in a health care setting requiredSpanish or Creole proficiency preferredExperience in eye care practice administration highly preferredKnowledge of reception tasks, office policies/procedures, paperwork neededKnowledge of customer service concepts and techniques neededHigh school diploma requiredBeacon Hill is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values the strength diversity brings to the workplace.
