Job Description for Position of Service Technician

Job Summary:

Repairing and maintaining small engines, including two- and four-cycle motors, large lawn equipment, mowers, tillers, and other related vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing small engine problems, maintaining shop area cleanliness, and collecting and disposing of trash.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Repairs or overhauls small engines and related mechanical or structural parts for a variety of equipment types, such as lawnmowers, chain saws, concrete saws, string trimmers, blowers, etc

Able to perform repairs within the time parameters as established by flat rate time or billed time with proper diagnosis

Diagnosing and troubleshooting small engine problems

Maintains cleanliness of shop area

Collects and disposes of trash

Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other personnel and customers

Continually seek both technical and product training when available

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of inventory software; point of sale and order processing systems; contact Management systems.

Frequently required to stand: talk or hear, walk and use hands for typing, handling parts, and operating office equipment

Required to bend, kneel, or squat.

Able to lift and handle heavy loads up to 50 lbs

Eyesight and hearing are important in diagnostics and trouble shooting equipment issues.
