Each of us is expected to model-coach-care with and for each other.We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager who will drive the integration and operational readiness of Server, Storage and Networking hardware infrastructure deployed to data centers globally. The Senior Technical Program Manager will partner with internal Hardware Engineering, Data Center Operations teams and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM)/Original Design Manufactures(ODM) partners to drive serviceability and operational readiness of cloud hardware per published specifications and requirements, ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, diagnostic, telemetry and supporting requirements conform to the Safety & Serviceability standards.Successful candidates will have passion, organizational skills and experience leading culture and change management. This role requires someone who has a strategic mindset with a solid understanding of datacenter and hardware development & operational processes. Represent CO+I as the technical subject matter expert from prototype to live phases of Microsoft Cloud hardware product development and new product introduction processes.

Collaborate with subject matter experts across Datacenter Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Serviceability, Diagnostics and Operations teams within CO+I and across the Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering organization to incorporate requirements.

Lead a virtual team of functional leads to land on a clear plan of record and ensure alignment across stakeholders on core CO+I requirements.

Conduct and document technical and operational risk assessments, drive tradeoffs and document decisions within and across teams.

Drive accountability for decisions and deliverables with partner teams throughout Information Technology (IT) hardware validation to ensure operational readiness.

Effectively and regularly track, manage, and communicate CO+I related program status, risks, dependencies, schedules, and milestones to leadership.

Ensure CO+I related requirements documents and specifications are continuously improved as Datacenter (DC) and Hardware (HW) technology evolves and new concepts are released to production.

Manage risks delivering highly available and efficient services and operations with measurable results.

Provide insight and report on the highest impact issues in Engineering forums and ensure delivery of efficient solutions.

Deliver results amidst ambiguous and changing business requirements by demonstrating a self-driven work ethic in our dynamic and high-pressure environment.

Lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmento OR equivalent experience.

2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

4+ years of experience with hardware new product introduction, hardware program management, or hardware engineering OR 2+ Years’ experience operating in mission-critical 24x7x365 production environment.

3+ years’ experience with technical program management, driving requirements, managing schedules, identifying, managing, and mitigating risks.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Enterprise IT infrastructure and equipment (examples: datacenter racks and enclosures, main and intermediate distribution frame network designs, structured cabling, secure environments, servers, networking, storage, Storage Area Network (SANs), and rack power solutions).

Master’s degree or multiple Bachelors in Computer, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent industry experience.

Growth Mindset – a desire to learn, improve, and show persistence in the face of setbacks.

Proven ability to collaborate with a wide range of business and engineering stakeholders to drive impact.

Ability to deal with ambiguity, assess opportunities and develop principles to prioritize multiple strategic and tactical solutions options.

Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal, and comfortable presenting to a diverse set of stakeholders, including leadership teams.

Experience working in a global, matrixed organization and working with cross-functional teams.

Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills.

Experience working in Artificial Intelligence (AI) & machine learning computing environments and technologies including Computer Processing Unit (CPUs), Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGAs), Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASICS), memory, Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA), high-speed interconnects like InfiniBand, deep learning & data mining common frameworks and techniques, and multiple types of distributed computing systems.

Familiarity with datacenter critical environment concepts (examples: electrical distribution and mechanical cooling systems).

Knowledge of engineering methodologies such as agile development and sprint planning.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
