Full-time Facilities Maintenance

Thriving Reform synagogue in San Mateo seeks a full-time custodian who can work 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday (some overtime may also be necessary). Do you have prior cleaning experience and like to work with a dynamic team. If you have an eye for detail, are reliable, have an excellent work ethic and can work alone as well as a part of a team this might be the opportunity for you.

Position Summary:

This position reports to the Facilities Manager and the Director of Operations & Facilities and is responsible for providing for the overall cleanliness of the facility (including restrooms and kitchen), set up for Temple programs, events, and activities, and some maintenance. This position is also responsible for opening and closing the facility on occasion.

Essential Functions:

Maintain assigned areas in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition by performing work assignments in an effective manner.

Perform assigned tasks as instructed by supervisor either alone or with a team.

Complete room set ups by following instructions and diagrams provided by the Event Coordinator. This may include setting out and clearing beverages and food.

Position Requirements:

1-2 years’ experience in custodial duties (cleaning rooms, bathrooms, etc.)

Ability to follow instructions and diagrams for room set up written in English

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work in environments both alone and with a team

Demonstrated organizational skills

Demonstrated experience handling multiple tasks and prioritizing successfully

Qualifications:

Must be dependable

Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Must be able to show proof to work in California

Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Someone who enjoys cleaning

Compensation:

Hourly (non-exempt) position. Wage commensurate with experience.

$22-$25/hour
