Hello!

Scratch Meats is building our 2024 market crew At this time we are looking to hire 1-2 more market leads.

We are a small artisanal sausage company operating out of North Portland. We make all of our product by hand in house and source our meats from small local farms. Our product is made with high attention to detail and are crafted with only meat, seasoning and salt. We predominantly sell our product at farmers markets in the Portland metro area, but also at our production facility and to restaurants.

The position is seasonal. We are looking to hire folks who can commit to the entire market season, which runs May-November through November. Scratch Meats is a family run business. Farmers Market Team Lead:

This position is perfectly suited for an individual who is a people person- both friendly and approachable and enjoys meeting new people! You must be willing to working outside (in all weather), be self-motivated, and enjoy talking about food. You must have a genuine interest in learning about our product, farm sources and have the ability and desire to share this information with our customers (we will teach you). The farmers market atmosphere is lovely. It’s ever changing with the seasons, fast paced, and the customers are typically very friendly and kind. There may be opportunity for kitchen shifts as well if you are interested.

You must be available to work Saturdays, and have the ability to commit through the duration of the 2024 farmers market season. Ideal candidates will have a vehicle that can load market coolers and set up (wagon, truck or SUV). We reimburse for mileage.

Job Responsibilities:

Meet at our production facility in North Portland, to load the vehicle for the market.

Drive to the market, unload and set up canopy, tables, cooler etc.

Cook and pass out samples at the market

Talk about our product, how it’s made, where the meat is sourced etc. (We will teach you)

Keep inventory organized during the market.

Manage till

Breakdown tent etc., return market to production facility

Clean stove and any dishes

Job Requirements

Valid Oregon food handlers card before first market

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs short distances-our coolers for load in and out are quite heavy. However we do have creative ways to lighten the load if need be.

Must have a drivers license and good driving record

You must have a vehicle to transport product to market (station wagon or truck), we will reimburse for gas

Positive interpersonal skills

Basic math skills

Compensation- $16-18
