Responsibilities:

Creating sketches and preliminary drawings of artwork1

Preparing surfaces and materials for painting123

Selection of colors and paints to be used for desired effects13

Creating special effects through a variety of methods1

Clean and maintain tools, studio space, and artwork storage areas13

Provide instructions and guidance to assistants and apprentices1

Exhibiting artwork at galleries, art shows, and museums1

Applying various finishes to buildings, rooms, or other structures, including primers and sealers23

Executing pre-painting activities, such as cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, and masking3

Following management’s instructions in maintaining an inventory of paint and supplies3
