Operations Manager, Tax and Accounting Firm

We are a professional tax preparation firm with more than 500 individual and small business clients. We are expanding our team and need an Operations Manager to oversee the client services and operations of the firm.

This is a hands-on role that requires interaction with clients, staff and vendors on behalf of the firm. This is not intended for a consultant or fractional COO. A retiree or CPA/Accountant returning to the workforce may find this role a good fit.

You will report to the Business Owner who leads the strategic growth efforts for the firm and its related companies.

Responsibilities:

Serve as the client services manager, overseeing assignment and delivery of tax preparation services provided by accountants and tax preparers.

Manage HR/Payroll including setting performance targets for the team and ensuring their professional development to perform in their roles

Manage IT/software services

Oversee Marketing, including setting sales targets, managing lead generation, advertising and social media strategies

Oversee Finance, including new business development efforts and internal bookkeeping

Job Requirements:

5 + years experience in an Administrative or Managerial role at a Tax or Accounting Firm

10+ years in the tax, accounting or professional services industry

Accountant/CPA/EA preferred

The preference is for the role to be hybrid, with regular in person meetings with the firm owner in New York City. A fully remote role will be considered for an attractive candidate not based in New York City.

Hours are 9 am to 5 EST with options for flex time.

You must be tech-savvy and be familiar with current software and platforms in the industry. The firm uses CCH Axcess tax preparation software and TaxDome for client and workflow management.

A positive, professional and polished presence is key.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week Monday to Friday.
