Position: Wellness Clerk in McKinleyville

32 hours - must be available til 9pm and weekends

wage $16 - $18 depending on experience

Job Functions: To assist in the Wellness Department. Provide an example of healthy living and nutritional education. Execute and inspire excellent customer service and job knowledge among your employees. Provide prompt, friendly and helpful customer service. Foster a team environment while meeting department objectives.

Responsibilities:

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Take initiative to assist customers with product questions, in a prompt, friendly, helpful manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.

Refer customers to third party information resources as needed. Help customers with Health Notes online (or similar) and reference books.

Provide assistance with special orders. When processing deliveries, set aside special orders, match products with special order forms and notify customers in a timely manner.

Read literature assigned by supervisor and stay informed of the latest nutrition and supplement developments.

STOCKING

Rotate older stock to front, making space for new stock. Check for back stock prior to stocking.

Stock displays fully without overcrowding, face items on shelves.

Pull short date or low-quality items, and then follow the established procedures for recording and disposing of them in a timely manner.

While stocking, check to ensure shelf tags are in place and correct. Label items accurately with price tags or signs if needed. Report price discrepancies to buyer/ supervisor.

DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE

Keep shelves, coolers, back stock and bins in clean, orderly condition. Dust and clean shelves and product when stocking. Remove and recycle trash promptly, sweep and mop floor as directed or needed.

Maintain department equipment in working order and use it safely. Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures (where applicable) and follow established procedures for handling breakdowns. Advise department manager, store manager, and VP of Operations of equipment problems or needs.

Use equipment safely and inform your supervisor of equipment problems.

Record department shrink promptly and accurately.

Participate in periodic inventory.

Attend meetings to plan promotions, cross-merchandise and advertise, as directed.

Qualifications:

Outstanding communication skills. Demonstrated ability to set and follow through with goals and commitments. Experience with Excel, Word, and Internet browser. Interest with natural foods and sustainable living products. Knowledge of trends and mainstays of the supplement industry. Familiarity with natural foods. At least two years’ experience supervising, hiring and firing other employees. Ability to project a friendly, outgoing personality with an emphasis on team building. Able to stand for long periods of time, able to lift 50lbs. Regular, predictable attendance.
