OverviewCarolina Southern Inc. seeks a dedicated and experienced Safety Director to lead our safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. This position is crucial for maintaining the safety of our drivers, vehicles, and the public, contributing to our longstanding reputation for outstanding service in coast-to-coast goods transportation. Key ResponsibilitiesCompliance and Regulations:

Monitor adherence to DOT, FMCSA, and state regulations concerning driver qualifications, hours of service, vehicle maintenance, and drug & alcohol testing.

Maintain and update driver qualification files, licenses, and medical certificates.

File necessary permits and ensure compliance with IFTA regulations.

Safety Programs and Training:

Develop and implement comprehensive driver safety training programs.

Conduct regular safety meetings and workshops for drivers and other personnel.

Implement driver monitoring systems and analyze data to identify and address risky behaviors.

Promote a culture of safety within the company through awareness campaigns and initiatives.

Incident Management and Analysis:

Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures.

Manage insurance claims and accident reporting procedures.

Analyze accident data to identify trends and develop preventative strategies.

Additional Responsibilities:

Participate in new driver onboarding and orientation processes.

Conduct facility inspections to identify and mitigate safety hazards.

Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety programs and compliance.

Collaborate with other departments, such as HR, maintenance, and operations, to ensure overall safety integration.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in safety management, transportation, or a related field.

Experience in the trucking industry with knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for accident investigation and data analysis.

Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills for training, program implementation, and collaboration.
