Research Associate 2 (Histopathology)

10x Genomics, Inc. in Pleasanton, CA seeks Research Associate 2 (Histopathology).

Responsibilities: As a member of the Department of Cell Biology, you will interact with scientists, researchers, and technicians to fulfill microtome and cryotome section requests of FFPE, fresh frozen and fixed frozen tissue blocks that will be used in the development of Visium, Xenium, and Single Cell products, as well as assisting in the organization and maintenance of the Lab. More specific duties include: preparing and providing biospecimens for the Histopathology and other product development teams, including processing, embedding, microtome sectioning, cryosectioning, and related troubleshooting of human and animal model tissues; acquiring, maintaining, and updating laboratory inventory and records of relevant biological and clinical tissue samples, including assisting in the screening of tissues for quality, composition, and biological significance; performing day-to-day maintenance of cryotome, microtome, tissue processor, and autostainer; effectively communicating, interacting, and providing consultation to the R&D staff and external vendors on biospecimens; and other duties as assigned. Salary Range $78k - $100k.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Histology, Cancer Biology, Neurobiology, or related biological field (or foreign equivalent).

Requirements: One (1) year of experience in the job offered or related positions. Other special requirements: One (1) year of experience working in standard molecular biology techniques and benchmarking of RNA, DNA, and protein quality from tissue samples; one (1) year of hands-on experience in tissue biology and histology; and one (1) year of experience in cryotome and/or microtome tissue sectioning and related troubleshooting skills.
