Rosemont Market & Bakery is a mission driven community market with a focus on connecting products from local farmers, growers and producers to customers in the greater Portland area. We buy and source high quality, unique products from Maine and away and over 60% of the products sold in our markets are grown or produced in Maine.

We are growing our purchasing team and want to bring on a new team member who is passionate about food, community and cheese! This position will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing meat and cheese for our markets and for building and improving ordering and purchasing strategy. This position is an in person position and will be based out of our headquarters facility located in Portland.

In this position, you can expect to:

-Work closely with the Purchasing Manager, company leadership and the buying team to source, purchase, and price our retail products.

-Support department planning, build sales growth, achieve margin targets, and further the Rosemont mission

-Manage assigned buying categories through regular inventory review, promotional planning, pricing adjustments and performance analysis, and ongoing communication and negotiation with vendors

-Participate in strategic planning for their department and partner with the retail teams to achieve success

-Build and improve process with a focus on efficiency.

-Lead by example and further the Rosemont mission.

-Work hands-on with produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods and dry goods from here and away.

-Engage and educate our teams and customers about what makes our local products so unique and special.

Applicant Must-Haves:

-High School diploma or equivalent.

-Minimum 3 years of professional experience in food industry preferred.

-Previous professional experience with POS systems; familiarity with Catapult preferred.

-Previous professional experience interfacing with Inventory Control Systems.

-Previous professional experience with wholesale buying and vendor relations.

-Interest in local food systems, food economies, and specialty foods.

-Independent and reliable transportation to travel between headquarters and retail locations as needed.

-Strong focus on continuous improvement and efficiency.

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-Excellent organizational skills

-Independent time-management skills and ability to sustain multiple ongoing projects.

-Proficiency in MS Office applications, including advanced comprehension of spread sheet functionality

-Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

-Ability to give, receive and apply feedback.

-Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.

-English language proficiency required.

Compensation:

This is an hourly, non-exempt position.

This is a part time position that will work approximately 24 hours per week.
