Alaska STEAM HUB Instructor: Under the supervision of the Campus Director, the Lead Instructor will work with Alaska Native/American Indian students in various settings, both in and put of the STEAM program. The Alaska STEAM HUB (ASH) Instructor will provide a safe and orderly environment for youth to learn specific STEAM skills. The ASH Instructor is also responsible for building culturally relevant and innovative activities and collaborating with STEAM staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

Work collaboratively with others to ensure program goals and objectives are met.

Assist in planning and the preparation of group cultural activities and special events/field trips scheduled throughout the academic year.

Assist in the creation of Alaskan cultural influenced projects.

Willing to learn how to create digital designs with Tinkercad, Corel Draw, and Affinity.

Perform routine maintenance on 3D printers, Glowforge, and Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machine.

Coordinate with ASH Youth Advocate and make connections with remote schools of Alaska to integrate into the program.

Coordinate with ASH Youth Advocate for visiting schools, and providing housing, meals, and activities.

Collaborate with STEAM Media team to engage and train support network regarding social media protocols and best methods to engage participants through social media interfaces.

Collaborate with all other Tribal programs regarding cross-program planning and activities for students.

Transport students to class sites, on field trips, cultural camps, or other locations as necessary.

Assist with the recruitment of new students, and public relations efforts for the program.

Keep a clean and safe environment.

Assists in the purchasing and inventory of supplies for classes and camps on a regular basis.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or similar field of study, preferred.

Two (2) years’ STEAM education technical abilities, preferred.

Two (2) years’ experience in educational and/or social service programs within the Alaska Native communities or with Alaskan Native/American Indian youth in the school system.

Two (2) years’ experience coordinating youth activities.

Proficient in collaborating with Alaskan Native communities, possessing deep insight into cultural values and belief structures.

Demonstrated ability to navigate the intricate balance between preserving cultural heritage while advancing participant education.

Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of state and federal background check in compliance with the 1990 Indian Child Protection Act.

Valid Alaska Driver’s License and be insurable under Knik Tribe’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver be at least 21 years of age.

Reports To: MTLC Director

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Wage/Salary: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour DOE/E. Full time employees will receive full benefits to include: Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan with matching contributions.
