Description
The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is looking for two part-time (8 hours) animal transporters to support our community outreach work! We have an opportunity for a dependable, organized individual with excellent communication skills to join our Pets for Life outreach team for part-time Outreach Animal Transport. As an Outreach Animal Transporter, you will make a direct impact by transporting animals to their spay/neuter appointment and supporting a community of people who face barriers to accessing services for their pets. The position is 8 hours a week, with a schedule of two of the following shifts:
Wednesday 6:00-10:00 a.m.
Wednesday 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Thursday 6:00-10:00 a.m.
Thursday 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Safely and efficiently kenneling dogs and cats
Driving pets from their homes to their spay/neuter appointment in a WHS cargo van
Fostering non-judgmental relationships with clients to ensure their experiences with our organization are positive
Effectively communicating information about our services to diverse clientele
Ensuring transport and clinic paperwork is accurately and legibly completed
Qualifications
Able to work independently and in a team environment
Understanding or desire to understand systemic socio-economic issues that affect underserved communities
Ability to partner with clients from diverse backgrounds
Committed to our organizational values of compassion, respect, and kindness, innovation, professionalism, equity, and positive approach
Current driver’s license and clean driving record is required
Comfortable driving a cargo van
Able to routinely carry 25 and up to 50 pounds
Prior client service and/or animal handling experience is a plus
