You: An enthusiastic, organized, educated, and motivated professional who has been in healthy, continuous (minimum 3 years) recovery from a substance use disorder who is looking to use their public speaking skills, writing talents, software proficiency, and ability to travel often to help others.

About the role - The Prevention Specialist works with school communities to plan and deliver substance misuse prevention services to youth, families, and school staff.

Core responsibilities

Collaborate with schools to develop sustainable prevention strategies.

Provide research-informed, age-appropriate educational programs.

Administer and evaluate assessments to identify community risk and protective factors.

Compose reports for community assessments and program summaries.

Participate in professional development opportunities for personal and organizational growth.

Location and commitments

This is a permanent, full-time salaried position with occasional evening and weekend work. Competitive monthly health stipend provided. Salary is commensurate with experience and skill level.

Position is a combination of virtual work and onsite client visits.

Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for assignments and maintain reliable transportation.

Valid driver's license and ability to rent a car required.

Position may require traveling for consecutive weeks and/or for three or more programs within a four-week period.

Qualifications

At least three years of continuous, long-term recovery from substance use disorder.

Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Excellent public speaking, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.

Successful completion of Soundcheck’s background check process.

Basic skills in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom and other virtual meeting platforms.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

Experience in multi-cultural environments; bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Experience with school- and/or community-based alcohol and other drug prevention planning and program implementation with youth, parents, and school staff.

Advanced degree(s) in related field (school counseling, public health, addiction studies) preferred.
