Posting Open: 6/12/2024 Posting Close: 6/18/2024 at 11:59 PM EST Salary: Competitive POSITION PURPOSE: Along with the Community Relations Manager, coordinates aspects of the TVA-wide Community Relations program, implementing programs in the strategic areas of education, human services and community enrichment. Coordinates aspects of TVA’s corporate giving, volunteerism, educational initiatives, civic engagement, and special projects. Works with TVA organizations to develop and implement initiatives that complement TVA’s strategic objectives and help position TVA as valued partner. Helps generate goodwill and community support for TVA’s mission and brand. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Supports the design and implementation of a region-specific approach to community relations.

Serves as a TVA interface with key Valley community organizations, including business and community leaders, university faculty and staff, and civic officials and coordinates their interaction with TVA organizations. Helps develop relationships and facilitate community outreach opportunities for TVA.

Coordinates aspects of TVA’s civic engagement initiatives for external board participation including recruiting TVA executives and Leadership Council to serve on non-profit and civic boards. Implements developmental training for TVA emerging leaders for service on non-profit and civic boards.

Coordinates aspects of TVA’s civic engagement initiatives including the TVA Speakers Bureau to ensure the availability of quality speakers and to manage the expectations of requesting organizations and proactively promote TVA speakers to civic groups.

Supports implementation of TVA’s employee volunteer program and tracks employee volunteer hours and commitments within specified region.

Supports aspects of TVA’s educational initiatives including developing K-12 strategic partnerships in strengthening Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) educational initiatives, including TVA’s STEM Grant Program.

Deploys aspects of community outreach plans to foster relationships with key Valley organizations on TVA’s mission and initiatives, while reflecting regional differences and incorporating input from various TVA regional organizations.

Manages special projects as assigned by the Director of Government & Community Relations and Community Relations Manager

Promotes TVA’s Community Relations program internally and externally. Manages relations with TVA organizations to increase the program’s internal visibility and maximize media coverage of the program’s initiatives.

Works closely with government relations and customer relations staff to ensure regional coordination of stakeholder outreach.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education—bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business development or related degree. Experience— At least 2 years of demonstrated experience working with community and business leaders, public officials, non-profit and/or civic organizations is required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities— Knowledge of public relations, strategic planning and program management. A high level of energy and passion for interacting with external organizations and stakeholders.
