Part-time Legal Assistant
Minnesota, Minneapolis / st paul , 55401 Minneapolis / st paul USA

Vacancy expired!

Seeking a (part-time) LEGAL ASSISTANT to help me grow my law business located in Bloomington, Minnesota. I am looking for a person with some law firm experience who would be willing to work about half-time for the balance of the year. Later in the year there will hopefully be an opportunity for full-time employment if desired. Our firm currently has a primary focus on estate planning, probate, and real estate. We handle uncontested family law matters and we also help small business owners establish their businesses. If you possess the necessary qualifications, are interested in being considered for this position, and would appreciate the opportunity to help a senior attorney grow his business, please send me your cover letter and resume.

Hours: Monday – Friday/9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.(1/2 hour for lunch)

Compensation: $25 per hour.

Requirements: My number one requirement for the position is dependability and willingness to “show up” for work each and every day. If your attendance has not been excellent in your prior positions, please don’t bother to apply. I am too old to be a babysitter. Another attribute I would really appreciate is someone who likes to learn how to do things by watching tutorials and taking advantage of the many learning tools that are available these days for learning how to use Clio and other software systems (that older attorneys are typically not very good at!).

General qualifications, skills and abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, Dropbox, QuickBooks, CLIO or similar CRMs

Ability to prioritize and work efficiently

Deadline and detail-oriented

Ability to take direction

Professional demeanor

Courteous and friendly

Willing to make telephone calls to previous and prospective clients and referral sources

Ability to work independently

Expertise in social media and e-marketing would be a bonus.

General responsibilities:

Utilize templates for drafting wills, trusts and other estate planning documents

Prepare and record deeds with appropriate counties in Minnesota

Communicate with clients, attorneys and referral sources

E-file documents with Minnesota courts

Assist attorney with creating detailed policies and procedures and complete “playbook”

Detailing each step undertaken for all projects and cases

Assist with execution of legal documents by clients

Assistance with preliminary collection of expenses and income monthly for submission to bookkeeper.
