Service Writer Position responsibilities include:

Writes and sends invoices

Writes and sends estimates

Coordinates with Yard Managers to Schedule boatyard services for customers.

Oversees customer contact regarding scheduling, job completion, and issues.

Oversees quality control of repairs.

Updates General Manager on daily work schedule, personnel, equipment, facilities and customer concerns/issues/feedback.

Communicates with customers about services recommended to keep boat/motor in best working condition.

Learns service management software and QuickBooks

Calculates boatyard fees and collects and processes cash, check, and credit card payments from customers.

Tracks and bills contractor and customer visits to yard.

Orders job supplies.

Opens and closes the boatyard offices; provides customer service by answering phones and e-mails providing a variety of information about boatyard services.

Minimum Qualifications:

-High school diploma or equivalent.

-Valid driver's license

Knowledge of:

Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word software.

Quickbooks

Boatyard, operations, policies and procedures.

Principles and practices of scheduling, and records management.

Customer service standards and protocols.

Basic construction, hull configuration, maintenance and operation of sail and power boats.

Workplace safety and security.

Skill in:

Being organized and detail oriented.

Operating in fast-paced environment.

Making independent decisions.

Providing effective customer service and dealing tactfully and courteously with customers.

Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with customers and co-workers.

Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software.

Scheduling, collecting and compiling data, and preparing reports and other documents.

Entering data into a computer system with skill and accuracy and maintaining electronic records and files.

Active listening and communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

Coordinating activities with other departments.

-Prefer previous customer service experience but will train right candidate

Service Manager position includes all the above and:

-Initial walk through/inspection at vessel haul out

-Create Google Drive photo folder per vessel, for haul/launch and any work performed

-Aide yard crew with hauls/launches

-Explain accepted and/or recommended work to customer with emphasis on preventative maintenance

-Provide and aide Service Writer with explanations, and estimates (time & material) for additional services

-Create and track Work Orders per vessel

-Provide Service Writer with completed Work Orders for timely final invoice revisions

-Schedule and supervise yard technicians (notably bottom crew)

-Train and QC bottom work/crew, facilitate rework and quality improvements

-Track, promote, document, and provide "Bottom Bonus" program

-Create archives for specific jobs to create accurate, future estimates (create base-line)

-Assist in timely completion of Work Orders, and provide Service Writer updates/delays (description & photographic)

-Provide assistance to Service Writer and/or Yard manager

-Assist yard crew when necessary, for billable work to promote timely completion of Work Orders

-Generate parts orders; yard inventory and boat specific Work Orders

-QC yard Times entries

-Provide Service Writer with billable hour revisions for final invoices

-Coordinate with Yard Manager and Service Writer for all yard services
