Custodian, Part-time (Lexington)
We are looking for a committed self-starter with a minimum of 3 years of custodial or maintenance mechanic experience with a Temple or House of Worship. The Custodian will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities, as well as setting up and breaking down for events, managing A/V equipment, preparing for worship services, and performing general cleaning and maintenance work. This includes summer turnovers, floor stripping and sealing, carpet cleaning, and routine repairs. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented and able to stay productive with little oversight and supervision. We are looking to fill evening shifts during the week, Tuesday, Thursday from 4-9 pm, and shifts over the weekend on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning and afternoon.
This position necessitates close collaboration with staff, clergy, and congregation members, emphasizing courtesy and accommodation as crucial attributes for success.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing restrooms and common areas.
Empty trash, recycling and compost bins and ensure proper disposal.
Set up and breakdown rooms for events, services, and school activities.
Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance and safety issues.
Respond to facility-related emergencies promptly and effectively.
Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and restock as needed.
Assisting with exterior maintenance tasks, including snow removal and landscaping may be required.
Per with residential painting tasks as needed
Support facilities maintenance by addressing minor repairs and upkeep
Ensure all areas are kept secure and adhere to health and safety regulations
Knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing and polishing
Ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization
Experience with facilities maintenance tasks
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
Support special projects and other duties
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience in commercial cleaning, industrial cleaning, and custodial work
Working knowledge of cleaning procedures and maintenance tasks.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Availability to work the specified shifts: Monday through Friday (day or evening 4-9pm) and/or weekends (days and evenings).
