SHOP HELPER - ENTRY LEVEL

CDI is a medium sized architectural metal and wood fabrication facility located in Bellingham, WA. We design, fabricate, and install extremely unique architectural elements at upscale commercial buildings sites, casinos, hotels, and more.

We are looking for energetic, motivated workers for our Shop Helper position. You will be involved in a full range of duties required to produce Custom High-End Millwork Products. Job duties will run the full range of activities from the very basic tasks such as pulling nails & grinding metal to highly skilled craftsmanship. Our employees must be able to work hard in manual labor situations, in a fast paced, deadline driven environment & still have the cognitive skills to do math and care about quality results.

You will be working with different types of wood & metals The variety of materials can require the use of multiple types of equipment, which we will train you in the proper use of them.

Hand or power saws

Sander

Various hand tools

Handheld grinder

Staple, glue and caulking guns

Table Saw

Duties, Responsibilities, Skills

· Arriving on time

· Loading and unloading/ stacking lumber &metal/ heavy lifting/ repetitive movement and lifting

· Clearing and cleaning work areas

· Working closely with shop foreman and skilled workers

· Using, cleaning and maintaining different tools used in the fabrication process

· Following all safety measures while operating power tools and other equipment

· Must be able to work standing up for 8-10 hours in a given day

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs without accommodation

· Must have mobility for frequent pushing, pulling, bending, and stooping

· Must be able to frequently squat down and reach above shoulder height

· Must be able to safely climb ladders to heights of 25 feet

· Must be able to work overtime as directed
