NPosition Type ManagementJOB SUMMARYJoins Marriott's dynamic IT Disaster Recovery (DR) team responsible for leading the development of Marriott’s DR strategies, processes and governance. We're seeking a seasoned professional with a proven track record in managing large-scale disaster recovery programs and collaborating with diverse, cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in both on-premise and cloud infrastructure, possessing a strong background in application-focused technologies such as Containers, APIs, and Messaging events. Additionally, we are looking for someone with a deep understanding of security and ransomware prevention strategies, with expertise in Python automationEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCERequired:

Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification

7+ years' progressive experience in Information Technology including:

5+ years of experience managing IT disaster recovery programs, with a focus on large-scale enterprises or multiple geographical locations.

2+ years IT leadership experience including budget management

Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.

Comprehensive knowledge of on-premise and cloud infrastructure, including experience in migrating on-premise infrastructure to the cloud.

Proficiency in application-focused technologies such as Containers, APIs, and Messaging events.

Strong understanding of security measures and ransomware prevention strategies.

Knowledge on backup and storage solutions, including data replication and disaster recovery testing.

Expertise in Python automation for streamlining IT processes.

Preferred :

Graduate degree in Computer Science or similar technical discipline

5+ years in a technical discipline role with experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating processes, systems and/or initiatives

Expertise in Public Clouds and proficiency in cloud-native technology risk management techniques.

Background in Infrastructure & Operations and/or Application Development/Engineering.

Experience in automating recovery processes, ensuring recovery assurance, and conducting chaos testing.

Certifications in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or Alibaba.

Familiarity with ITIL v3/v4 practices.

Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environments.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Ability to achieve results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls, and leading in a managed service environment

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output in a team environment.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Lead the Development of Disaster Recovery (DR) Strategies: Spearhead the development and implementation of innovative DR strategies across Infrastructure Delivery and Global Technology, ensuring ownership and alignment with organizational goals.

Collaborate with Key Teams: Work closely with Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure Delivery teams to identify and implement repeatable patterns that effectively mitigate DR risks, fostering a culture of proactive risk management.

Strategic Risk Management: Collaborate with executives and risk leaders to proactively identify and address potential technology risks, leveraging new open-source and cloud-native technologies to automate DR processes and enhance efficiency.

Empower Cross-Functional Teams: Inspire and empower matrixed teams to think creatively and inclusively about DR challenges, encouraging informed consultation and effective problem-solving.

Prioritize Competing Demands: Manage and prioritize work across organizational lines to address competing priorities, ensuring that DR initiatives align with strategic objectives and deliver tangible results.

Implement Monitoring Processes: Establish and implement robust processes to monitor the DR lifecycle, ensuring that DR activities are conducted efficiently and in accordance with best practices.

Develop Metrics-Based Reporting: Create metrics-based reporting frameworks for DR activities, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), to track progress and measure the effectiveness of DR strategies.

Ensure Timely Completion of Audits: Oversee and ensure the timely completion of audit-related DR activities, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.

Manage Contracts and SLAs: Manage and enforce contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) for external and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) service providers, ensuring that DR requirements are met, and services are delivered as per the agreements.

Utilize Tools and Technologies: Leverage existing tools and technologies such as ServiceNow and Fusion Framework to streamline DR processes, enhance efficiency, and improve overall effectiveness.

Manage team: Manage, advise, and guide team members.

Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success and effectiveness of the DR program and organizational objectives.

Travel - on as needed basis.

California Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $209,169 annually.Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $190,154 annually.Hawaii Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $116,205 to $209,169 annually.New York Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $209,169 annually.Washington, D.C. Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $105,641 to $190,154 annually.Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $209,169 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.
