The Florida Cohort research focuses on studying health outcomes related to HIV/AIDS and the relationship of alcohol use and mental health to these outcomes. Participants will complete study visits and be tracked for at least 5 years. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the project, including oversight of 2-3 part-time recruiters in Gainesville, and coordination of the project across numerous other settings in Florida (e.g. Tampa, Miami, Orlando). Incumbent will train new study personnel, monitor for quality assurance, coordinate shipping and receipt of study research materials, manage participant gift cards, and assist with data collection and data entry.The Research Coordinator will report directly to the Principal Investigator of the Florida Cohort project. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills and experience in human subjects’ research activity. The Research Coordinator will be part of a dynamic team of investigators, staff, and students affiliated with the SHARC Center for Translational HIV Research at the University of Florida. Organizational and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task are key features of the job. There will be opportunities to gain new skills and experience and to work with investigators and students from a range of scientific disciplines.Local Administration and Coordination of FL Cohort Responsible for coordinating research activities related to the Florida Cohort under the supervision of the PI of the research team. This includes the development and implementation of research team procedures and assignment of duties to staff and students that support the overall mission of the research team. The research coordinator should become familiar with all details of the study procedures for this project to oversee and teach others. Responsible for the interpretation and implementation of federal, state, and University of Florida policies and procedures as they apply to the clinical research activities, including assisting with IRB activities and requirements.Plan, schedule, and coordinate research team calls and meetings needed to facilitate communication about and coordination of research activities. Ensure that all research staff are trained in all study procedures and that job duties are clearly communicated. Request, deliver, and monitor research subject payments using the UF Human Subject Payment system.Assist and support the principal investigator in written and oral communications with granting agencies, faculty, staff, and community groups. The Research Coordinator will assist with data collection, create study documents, and understand the project budget. The Research Coordinator will oversee chart abstraction, maintain study questionnaires, track enrollment and screening, and oversee and support local recruitment.The Research Coordinator will be responsible for oversight of the marketing and branding of the project with items such as brochures, logos or items needed for promotion. Assistance with these items may be provided but a clear vision and direction is expected.Alcohol biosensor, community panel, and SHARC Registry Assist with all aspects of the Alcohol biosensor portion of the study. This will include tracking of the physical devices (what participants possess the devices), device set up, participant training and other training and device management activities needed. Assist with the Florida Cohort community panel, including managing meetings and members. Assist with the SHARC Registry regarding the participant sign up, tracking, and maintaining the register.Community Engagement and Development Community engagement will include connecting the Florida Cohort project with other research, educational, and community-based activities of the SHARC Center for Translational HIV Research (http://sharc-research.org/). Attend weekly Center team meetings, occasional SHARC Research Seminar Series, and community-engagement activities as needed. This position will help oversee and teach interns, medical students, and visiting students to help with the overall Florida Cohort project. This position will assist in writing or creating grant documents, posters, or materials for presentations related to FL Cohort and SHARC related research.Additional Activities The position will also provide support for, and work on, similar activities as needed for the SHARC Center for Translational HIV Research including research related support and community engagement support.Expected Salary:$54,000 - $61,000; negotiable, based on education, skills, and experience. Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience with human subject research, which could include recruitment of participants into research studies, obtaining informed consent, collection of research data, and/or working with IRB protocols.Experience with HIV subjects or similar populations is strongly preferred.Excellent organizational skills.Experience with UF participant payments, UF Redcap system.Friendly communication by email, phone, and face-to-face.Experience working with diverse populations.Experience supervising other people or research projects.Knowledge of grant proposals, post award management, and IRB guidelines ACRP or SoCRA certified.Special Instructions to Applicants:In order to be considered, you must upload your cover letter and resume.
