General Statement of Duties:
A William Temple House Thrift Store works as a team member; maximizing daily sales by providing excellent customer service. Each task you complete is related to providing customer service and to making a sale or acquiring donated goods, but nothing is more important than the contact you have with each customer/donator; whether or not the customer/donator chooses to make a purchase and/or donate merchandise. As a staff member of the William Temple House Thrift Store you represent the William Temple House agency; and will be called upon to convey the agency mission to customers and donators. Thrift Store Associates must be team players and have a positive attitude.

Typical Examples of Work:
An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of the following: (these examples do not necessarily include all of the tasks the employee may be expected to perform.)
1) Customer Service: The number one priority of all Thrift Store Associates is to provide the best customer service possible. We require that customers be treated with a friendly attitude. William Temple House expects you to greet the customer, determine their needs and do everything possible to satisfy him or her.
2) Cash Wrap Procedure: Learns WTHTS cash register operating procedures. Follows all cash handling, charge authorizations, and customer holds. Adheres to opening and closing procedures.
3)Dressing Room Control: Monitors items going in and coming out of dressing rooms.
4) Product Knowledge: This includes but is not limited to, location of merchandise on sales floor, quality, labels, contents of items, current in-store sales and promotions, and other in-store services.
5) Stock/Rotation: Stocks sales floor with priced merchandise, placing it in proper location. Rotates stock as management directs.
6) Donation Receiving: Receives, qualifies, records and stores donated merchandise for shipping to Distribution Center. Answers incoming telephone calls. Loads and unloads truck of merchandise in an efficient and safe manner.
7) Loss Prevention: Actively follows store policy and procedures for shrinkage prevention. This includes, but is not limited to, fitting room procedures, package and purse checks, floor assignments, internal and external shop lifting and communication with management.
8) Housekeeping: Assists in maintaining the entire store and outside front area. This includes, but is not limited to, vacuuming, dusting, polishing glass cases, organizing sales floor, and arranging attractive displays that are well organized and inviting to customers.
9) Safety: Follow all safety procedures and rules. This includes, but is not limited to, practicing proper lifting techniques, wearing personal safety equipment, proper training and operation of machinery, cleaning up after tasks, and reporting possible safety hazards.
10) Continuous bending, stooping, twisting and standing for long periods. Lifting requirements up to 60 LBS.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Training and Experience: One year experience in sales, preferably retail/thrift environment, with verifiable employment references. Must have good communication skills, be enthusiastic, and be experienced in customer service needs. Ability to identify and acknowledge adverse situation.
Education:
Graduate from high school or equivalent GED certificate. Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute the above.
Compensation & Benefits:
This is an hourly, non-exempt, full-time position. The starting rate is $18.86 per hour. This position is eligible for PTO (Paid Time Off), Benefits including Health, Vision, and Dental and designated holidays.
