For more information, visit our website , or connect with us on LinkedIn or Twitter.As a member of the logistics group, the Logistics Planning Supervisor will be responsible for managing shipment planning, creating loads within the required TMS system, managing carrier and facility communications as they apply to order movement, carrier development, and appointment scheduling as well as; managing communications with various operational and commercial groups, leading freight optimization projects, warehousing capacity studies and market reporting in assigned areas.Responsibilities
Responsible for leading the transportation planning team in all strategic programs along with daily operational duties.
Demonstrated knowledge of other logistics roles.
Supports transportation planning over assigned locations when necessary.
Serves as liaison between logistics, customer service, procurement, and the carrier in order to develop strong operating processes and pro-active communications.
Provides periodic updates of shipment status, reacts to priority issues, and help requests in a timely manner.
Accountable for responding to inquiries in the group email inbox as assigned and executing the day-to-day load planning activities for IM, LTL, and TL shipments.
Create internal plant transfer orders as needed to fulfill forecasted demand by reviewing ERP system notifications.
Navigate open orders, supply/demand, and internal production needs from an item’s bills of materials to maintain accurate supply levels.
Have a clear understanding of how to read inventory levels such as safety stock, replenishment needs, and requested demand for all assigned items.
Accountable for monitoring and maintaining effective inventory levels on all assigned transfer items.
Responsible for routing/planning all freight.
Responsible for private fleet route planning.
Responsible for optimizing daily transportation plan through load consolidation.
Responsible for key metrics that drive inventory optimization along with freight cost reduction.
Will assist in coordination of creating transfer item setups, cost rolling, transferring bill of materials, routing notes, plate numbers, and needed ORM jointly with Sales Support, Scheduling, Creative Services, and PDM teams.
Assists in the resolution of CIO’s, damage claims, and carrier service issues as required.
Identifies areas of opportunity that lead to greater efficiencies and lower costs.
Executes on projects that increase efficiencies and maximize cost advantages.
Reviews and implements changes to processes to keep them current.
Supports and provides training to new hires or others as required.
Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary by leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, or closely related equivalent
2-3 years’ experience in transportation industry required
Knowledge of LTL/TL pricing formats
Experience using a TMS system required
TMC knowledge a plus
Ability to lead and influence in a matrix environment
Proficiency in gathering, analyzing and interpreting data.
JDE/Cognos/Tableau proficiency a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and related Office applications
Effectively communicate with customers, both external and internal
Competencies
Proven analytical and problem solving skills
With a full understanding of the impact of role to total business costs
Excellent attention to details
Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including knowledge and understanding of specialist systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Bill of Material (BOM) and customer data systems
Advanced Excel user
Ability to analyze and manipulate technical and complex data and provide meaningful information
