Stationary Engineer (B) FT - Kenmore East

Hours: 6:00 a.m - 2:30 p.m (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week) - Core Duty Schedule IF APPOINTED PROVISIONALLY THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST BE QUALIFIED TO TAKE THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WHEN MADE AVAILABLE. FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HOLD THE TITLE OF STATIONARY ENGINEER OR MUST BE CANVASSED AND REACHABLE FROM AN EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE LIST. DUTIES OF ASSIGNMENT: Support the Director of Facilities, the Head Custodian and the operations at Kenmore East High School. Thorough knowledge of the operation, repair and maintenance of boilers, pumps, generators and H.V.A.C equipment; ability to do a variety of skilled mechanical and electrical repairs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and additional experience and knowledge in a particular field where specialized duties are involved; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and completion of a recognized training course in stationary engineering supplemented by one (1) year of experience in the operation of a steam plant, which must have included the operation and maintenance of steam or diesel engines, pumps, air conditioning equipment and general building maintenance; or: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, supplemented by two (2) years of experience in the operation of a steam plant; one (1) year of which must have involved the operation and maintenance of steam or diesel engines, pumps, air conditioning equipment and general building maintenance; or, Elementary education, supplemented by four (4) years of experience in the operation of a steam plant; one (1) year of which must have involved the operation and maintenance of steam or diesel engines, pumps, air conditioning equipment and general building maintenance; or An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) or (C).
