ABOUT GOLD PALM & MOONGLOW

Gold Palm & Moonglow are two brand new food and beverage concepts under one roof from the owners of Bar Shiru, opening in September 2024 and located just steps from the historic Fox Theater. Gold Palm will be a friendly and upbeat neighborhood bar and restaurant serving “Pakistani party food” and upscale bar bites. Moonglow is a “secret bar” through an unmarked door in Gold Palm, serving high-end cocktails and a few food items from the same menu.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Bar Manager to join our opening team and oversee the daily operations of these two bars under one roof. This is a rare opportunity to help build, staff and operationalize an efficient, clean and sustainably-driven bar program, from top to bottom. The right candidate will be ready to join us no later than the week of August 12.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Overseeing the beverage programs for both Gold Palm and Moonglow, in accordance with the creative direction and general management strategies, to include:

Ordering, inventory management and brand relationships.

Prep strategy and oversight, including coordination with the Kitchen Manager/Chef de Cuisine as needed;

Costing analysis and organizational strategy;

Ongoing beverage menu development, including cocktails and creative non-alcoholic drinks;

Hiring and managing all bar and front of house staff, including:

Coordinating interviews and assisting with on-boarding process;

Foster a positive, inclusive and collaborative team environment.

Creating training manuals and processes;

Coordinating with the Kitchen Manager on any roles/responsibilities which cross over into kitchen operations (e.g. prep or bussing);

Managing the schedule, tips and baseline info for payroll processing (e.g. ensuring timesheets are accurate);

Collaborating with the General Manager on payroll analysis and staffing strategies; and

Escalating HR issues to the General Manager as necessary.

Overseeing day to day operations for both bars and all front of house operations, including:

Assisting with development and refinement of service and customer flow strategies, with a view towards optimizing for both customer retention and revenue;

Managing relevant vendors and handling any emergencies which arise;

Acting as manager on duty for all peak nights (i.e., weekends) and any other nights where needed;

Overseeing private bookings and other special events; and

Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing regulations;

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar areas;

Such other responsibilities which are customary for the role.

QUALIFICATIONS

Proven experience as a Bar Manager or similar role in a high-end bar or restaurant.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Extensive knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic beverages.

Proficient in inventory management and cost control.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.

Proactive problem solver

Drama-free working style

Familiarity with health and safety regulations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary Range $68k - $79k
